As part of the investigation by Pennsylvania State Police about the October 8 violence at the Chevy Chase Community Center, persons in attendance at the event may have been required to turn over personal items, including cellphones, to police; or, in the confusion of the event and leaving the community center, you may have left personal items at the scene.
If you are without your cellphone and unable to access your residence hall room or other services that are related to electronic information on your cellphone, please contact IUP Housing. If you need assistance accessing your IUP account with Duo Mobile, please contact IT Services.
We understand that a violent and unexpected event like this can continue to cause anxiety and concerns, well past the time of the incident. Please continue to use the resources we have in place for you.
During the week, the IUP Counseling Center is available by calling 724-357-2621 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-in hours at the Counseling Center are Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. You can also contact your Navigator or a member of IUP’s Care Team of professionals. The Care Team works together to offer appropriate support to students in distress. Please continue to help one another by sharing these available resources with friends or classmates who come to you with concerns. The Indiana/Armstrong Mental Health Crisis line, 1-877-333-2470, is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
The Indiana County District Attorney’s office includes a Victim Rights Coordinator to assist victims and witnesses who are participating in a criminal case on behalf of the commonwealth. This office provides information regarding victim’s rights, restitution, parole notifications, victim impact statements, and related issues.
