With the September 1 retirement of Bill Speidel, who had served as vice president of University Advancement since 2012, I am pleased to welcome Khatmeh Osseiran-Hanna, a veteran advancement professional, to move the division's efforts forward while a national search for a permanent vice president takes place.
Our alumni relations and development programs have experienced a great deal of success in the last several years, and continuing the momentum is key to IUP's success. We are awarding more private scholarship support to students than at any other point in the university's history, and more alumni than ever are engaged with IUP through volunteer opportunities or by attending networking events and reunions. Affinity for IUP is at an all-time high, and we want to continue to engage our alumni and donors in meaningful ways.
I expect that Khatmeh will serve IUP through June 30, around the time a new vice president for University Advancement arrives.
Khatmeh's executive positions in advancement have included work at the City University of New York College of Staten Island, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and the University of Queensland. She comes to IUP through The Registry, an agency that specializes in placing interim executives at colleges and universities.
