Dear IUP community,

Welcome back for the start of the spring semester. I hope everyone got some rest over the break and enjoyed time with family and friends.

Near the end of last semester, we held a gathering in the Blue Room to talk about the future of IUP, during which we discussed topics including finances, academic restructuring, and program reviews. While it was great to discuss these important topics, we didn’t have enough time to go into detail. That’s why we’re going to hold several similar gatherings to dive further into each subject.

I hope you will join us for the following events. All of these events will be held in the Blue Room, on the first floor of Sutton Hall. Some, but not all, will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend.

Toward the end of the semester, at dates and times to be determined, we will also provide updates on the Comprehensive Planning Process and the Long-Range Facilities Master Plan.

The semester is also filling up with some exciting student events, such as STATIC’s Spring Kickoff Trivia Night this Thursday. Use the communication channels below to stay up to date on the events.

  • IUP Now web page—updated daily, includes important news, events, and achievements across the university.
  • IUP Now newsletter—our official news email sent on Wednesdays with top news.
  • The Pathfinder—IUP student news email sent on Fridays to better inform and involve students in events.
  • IUP Weekly Roundup—20 campus events are promoted each Monday on IUP’s Instagram channel

I hope you can attend these events as your schedule permits. It is important for us as we build toward our future that we are all aware of the challenges we face and the plans we have to address them.

I look forward to another great semester and to working with you as we continue to do the good work that IUP has always stood for.

Michael A. Driscoll
