Please join Professor Robin Goodwin from the Warwick University, United Kingdom, on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. for a Zoom lecture discussing psychological and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While many of us may have been surprised by the arrival of COVID-19, the emergence of this novel zoonosis, its pattern of spread, and many of its psychological ramifications are not specifically unique.
Drawing on data collected in seven countries, as well as other research conducted on pandemics and mass societal threats, this presentation will consider individual, interpersonal, and cultural factors important for interrelated aspects of the pandemic, including preventive health behaviors, mental health, and interpersonal and intergroup relations. Some of the patterns of resilience we might expect as the pandemic progresses will be illustrated, as well as potential lessons for more effective actions to be taken in the future when faced with similar threats and losses.
