CANCELED: West Virginia Dance Company

Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

Called “WV’s best kept secret,” West Virginia Dance Company was founded in 1977 with the distinct purpose of enriching lives through dance and with special emphasis on making dance more accessible to rural communities. Today, the company continues to delight audiences across Appalachia and beyond with works that are thought-provoking and engaging yet approachable and appropriate for an audience of any age.

For its 43rd season, West Virginia Dance Company introduces a new project, “Love of Power vs. Power of Love,” which explores the choice between exerting power over others or acting out of love. The piece unmasks the divisiveness, isolation and intolerance that evolves from misuse of power, and reveals the power of love to heal, unite and remind us of our shared humanity.

The program will also include a performance by the IUP Dance Theater Company of a new work created for the company by WVDC founder Toneta Akers-Toler. This production is suitable for all ages, but the optional post-show discussion contains mature themes.

The ticket prices for this show are as follows:

Regular: $22

Senior(60+), Military, Non-Student I-Card: $18

Under 18: $11

IUP Student (Limit 4): $11

Please note there is additional fee of $3 per ticket when purchasing on the day of the show.
