A panel of experts approved and convened by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and ArtsPath will review artist applications and will base their recommendations on the following:
- Artistic excellence as demonstrated by work samples submitted that are representative of the applicant's current work and not that of the applicant's students;
- Evidence of significant professional level activity in the creation of original artistic work;
- Evidence of continued professional development, keeping current with one's artistic discipline;
- Quality of application, including quality of work samples, written communication, and proper completion;
- Evidence of ability to develop and implement a residency plan with educational partners;
- Evidence of ability to interact with students of varying ages and abilities to effectively communicate one's art form and its process; and
- Availability to conduct residencies.
