IUP Part-time Police Academy at CNX - Southpointe campus
(Main Campus - Cannonsburg, PA)
IUP offers the part-time Act 120 Program at CNX - Southpointe campus. This academy allows qualified individuals to participate in the PA Act 120 Basic Police Officer Training Program, which will certify graduates as municipal police officers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The part-time training schedule is designed for working individuals looking for weekday evening and weekend training times. The academy classes will meet on three weekday evenings from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and one weekend day from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The duration of the program is approximately 46 weeks until graduation.
The part-time academy at CNX Southpointe campus operates one session each year. The annual start of class is generally the second Saturday of each January. Applications are accepted each year starting in October. Entrance testing takes place from October through the first week in January of each year. IUP Main Campus Full-Time Police Academy
The full-time academy at IUP main campus conducts two academy classes annually. The spring or first session is tentatively scheduled to begin the first Monday in January of each year. Applications are accepted starting in September through the last week of December before classes begin. The fall or second session tentatively begins the third Monday in June of each year. Applications are accepted beginning in February through the first week of June before the start of classes. To begin the application process, visit the IUP Criminal Justice Training Center website and submit your application online. On-campus housing is available for this academy. Housing information is included in the application packet. Students can also secure their own off-campus housing for this academy.
Academy dates are tentative depending on enrollment numbers. Financial aid is available for all academy locations through IUP.
