If a vehicle is returned with the same amount of fuel
as when the rental period began, there is no charge for fuel. If a vehicle is returned with less fuel than
when the rental period began, there are two different fuel charge options
available so Enterprise can plan for fuel needs. Please see the options below. If a vehicle is accidentally returned with
less fuel, a higher price (Preset Inflated Rate) is charged as a penalty
because it may create extra prep time to get a car ready for the next customer. If a customer chooses the Prepaid Fuel
option, they receive a discount because the Enterprise location is aware the
vehicle will be returned with less fuel and can plan accordingly.
Option 1 – “Preset” Inflated Rate
If a vehicle is returned and needs gas, the renter will
be charged the “preset” inflated rate determined by the Enterprise Corporate
Office. The tank will be filled back to
the level it was at when the vehicle was picked up. The level is written on the rental ticket
when the vehicle leaves the Enterprise lot.
Option 2 – Prepaid Fuel
The cost of fuel through this option is lower than
“pump price” and the rate is stated to the renter when the vehicle is picked
up. If choosing this option and the
vehicle is returned with a lower level of fuel than when the rental began, the
renter will be charged the “predetermined rate” to bring the gas tank back to
the level it was at when the vehicle was picked up.
