The Haven Project will display the Silent Witnesses around campus in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
A silent witness is a life-sized silhouette that tells the true story of an adult or child who was killed in an act of domestic violence. Each silently bears witness to a serious and ongoing problem.
Statistics from the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
- In Pennsylvania, 119 victims died from domestic violence last year.
- Fifty-four percent were killed by a current or former intimate partner.
We must commit to be their voices now that they can no longer speak for themselves.
The display is available:
- October 7–11, Leonard Hall
- October 14–18, Stapleton Library
Trigger warning: Stories contain descriptive themes of sexual and domestic violence, including child abuse. The material may be triggering for some individuals.
