Overnight guests are limited to two per resident, and may not remain for more than three consecutive days. Anyone who visits a room that is not their own after midnight and before 5:00 a.m. is considered to be an overnight guest. All overnight guests must be registered prior to arriving on campus.
To register your guest, please visit your MyIUP Housing Portal. Click Visitor. For new visitors, click New Reservation, then Add Visitor. Enter your guest’s information, then click Save & Continue. Then enter the dates of your guest's visit and click Save & Continue.
Once your guest arrives on campus, please visit the Housing Office on the ground floor of Ruddock Hall (8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. M–F) or your Hall office (8:00 p.m.–midnight). The staff will check in your guest. When your guest leaves, please notify the Housing Office or your RA, and we will check your guest out.
The rights to sleep, study, and have privacy supersede visitation privileges.
Guests entering the building must be escorted by their host or hostess at all times when they are in the building. Residents are directly responsible for the actions of their guests. Residents may face disciplinary action and be held financially responsible for any behavior of a guest that results in property damage. The university reserves the right to deny access to any guest if it has been determined that he/she has disturbed, endangered, or disrupted residents.
Individuals under the age of 18 and are unaccompanied by their legal parent or guardian wishing to stay overnight are required to complete the Minor Visitation Permission Form. This form must be completed and signed by a legal parent/guardian and should be presented to the front desk of the community in which they are staying. Both the host and the minor are expected to follow all IUP policies.
The university reserves the right to deny access to any guest if it has been determined that such a person is disturbing, dangerous, or disruptive to the residents or the facilities.
