ALI Instructor
The American Language Institute accepts instructor applications year-round for individuals interested in teaching at our intensive English program. Instructor start dates are in August, January, and May.
Program Description
The American Language Institute at Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been welcoming students from around the world for more than 30 years. The ALI offers intensive English programs for students who want to improve their language proficiency and cultural understanding. Classes are offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters following IUP's academic calendar.
The American Language Institute offers a variety of programs to meet students' language learning needs and educational goals. The ALI typically offers several levels of study with classes on reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and culture as well as special topics such as test preparation, community participation, and English through film and media.
Salary
Instructor salary includes all instructional and administrative duties performed as an ALI instructor. This is a part-time contract position that does not include benefits.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have relevant teaching experience and a master's degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, or closely related field. Instructors should have experience successfully working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Highly advanced English language proficiency is expected of all ALI instructors.
Desirable Qualifications
University-based intensive English teaching and international teaching experience is preferred. Professional involvement in the field, including membership of professional organizations, presentations, and publication as well as academic accomplishments, will also be considered.
