2019 PACIE Annual Conference
The Pennsylvania Council for International Education looks forward to welcoming you to Central Pennsylvania for our annual conference October 24-26. PACIE has Joined the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association (PSMLA) in a celebration of our 50th and 100th anniversaries to reflect on the past, present, and future of international education in PA. We look forward to stimulating exchange of innovative ideas about educating the next generation of leaders in an interconnected world. We hope to see you in State College to celebrate the 50th anniversary of PACIE with us!
PSMLA / PACIE Fall 2019 Conference Session Proposal
Speaker: Don Gentile
Since August 2016, Don Gentile has served the Intelligence Community as its senior language authority and Chief Learning Officer. He is also division chief of the Human Capital Office's Community Learning and Development Division.
Prior to taking his current position, Gentile worked in the National Counterterrorism Center's (NCTC) Directorate of Intelligence, where he served as a group chief from 2010 until August 2016, and deputy group chief from 2005 until 2010.
Prior to his time with NCTC, Don's career included numerous positions with the National Security Agency (NSA). Among his assignments, he served as a language analyst, manager, and senior intelligence analyst representing NSA in the White House Situation Room, including on 9/11.
Don has also held NSA linguist certifications in Italian, Portuguese, French, and Spanish and served as a past member of NSA's Standing Committee on Language Testing.

The English Graduate Organization and Composition and TESOL Association, in collaboration with the Department of Language, Literature, and Writing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, are proud to announce their 2019 Interdisciplinary Conference, "Transient Crossings: Exploring, Constructing, and Deconstructing Borders," to be held April 5-6, 2019, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Speaker: Dr. Xiaoye You
Xiaoye You is a liberal arts professor of English and Asian studies at The Pennsylvania State University and Yunshan Chair professor at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
You's scholarship has aimed at engaging rhetoric and composition scholars in meaningful conversations and cooperation across geopolitical and disciplinary boundaries. To cross these boundaries, he has authored and collaborated on five books, among them Writing in the Devil's Tongue: A History of English Composition in China (2010), Cosmopolitan English and Transliteracy (2016), and Inventing the World Grant University: Chinese International Students' Mobilities, Literacies, and Identities (2017).
