Follow the steps below to set up residential delivery and request books from other libraries around the country.
Step 1: Register with ILLiad and Apply for Residential Delivery
Patrons first must register for the ILLiad service, and have a complete, up-to-date mailing address. We cannot accept P.O. boxes for residential delivery.
First-time registrants to ILLiad will receive a registration confirmation. If you are already registered in ILLiad, please log in to make sure your address and location are correct and current.
When setting up your ILLiad account:
- Only your official IUP email can be used when registering.
- All email communication and notifications are sent to your IUP email account.
- Once registered, the ILLiad username you create will need to be entered into your application for residential shipping.
Remember, to qualify for residential delivery you must
- Live further than 15 miles from the IUP Indiana Campus.
- Be unable to pick up or return items to Stapleton Library.
Step 2: Request the Book in ILLiad
Request books from other institutions using the ILLiad book request form.
Step 3: Shipping and Delivery
Book loans will be sent to your home address via UPS. You will receive an email notification when the item is processed in ILLiad and a second email will notify you when the item has shipped. This email will also include the item's UPS tracking number and return mailing instructions.
Step 4: Returns and Due Dates
Due dates for loaned materials are set when shipped. The due date includes 30 days plus an automatic renewal of an additional 30 days and 14-days transit time. If you need the material longer than this 74-day allowance, contact the ILLiad supervisor for an approved extension, or re-request the item, if applicable.
When returning the book, use the prepaid return UPS shipping label provided. No other return shipping method is accepted, as the UPS label includes insurance for the item. Returned items must be packaged as per UPS standards. Items must be returned at an official UPS drop-off location.
Overdue Fines, Replacement Fees, and Care of Materials
Patrons are responsible for the care and timely return of materials once received. Lending libraries will charge for overdue, damaged, and/or lost material. Lost item replacement fees can include replacement cost of the material, processing fees, and overdue fines.
Patrons are responsible for any fees or fines assessed by the lending library. Fines and fees for tuition-paying students will be applied to student accounts at the Bursar. There will be a one-business-day delay before the fines and fees will be transferred. Payment can be made either online through IUP-EasyPay; or at the Bursar window in Clark Hall (cash or money order only). Failure to pay fees and fines through the Bursar will result in holds placed on your account.
