Eileen Ivers: An Irish Christmas

December 06, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.
Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

This event is over.

Recalling the roaring hearths and volumes of laughter that are part of the holidays in Ireland, virtuoso fiddler Eileen Ivers and her ensemble, Immigrant Soul, will perform a spirited show titled “An Nollaig: An Irish Christmas.”

Winning awards for her incredible fiddling, Ivers has performed for presidents and royalty worldwide, including with the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center, and the Boston Pops. She has been called a “sensation” by Billboard magazine and “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin” by the New York Times. As a unique treat for its IUP performance, the group will be joined by the local gospel choir, Voices of Joy.

Late Change: We were planning for dancers from Burke Conroy School of Irish Dance in Pittsburgh to join in the performance for Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, two of the dancers were recently injured and are unable to join us.
