This event is over.
Opening the 25th season of the Ovations! series is the return engagement of trumpet master and 1995 Helwig Distinguished Artist Doc Severinsen. For his return, he will perform with well-known vocalist Vanessa Thomas and a band that will include some of IUP's most heralded alumni and faculty musicians.
A Grammy award winner, Doc has made more than 30 albums—from big band to jazz-fusion to classical. Doc's flair for outrageous fashion and his trademark wit have never interfered with the fact that he is one of the greatest trumpeters and musicians of the last 60 years and respected in the worlds of classical music, jazz, big band, and now even world music.
Ms. Thomas, a very talented soprano known for her solid four-octave range and unique versatility in various musical genres, regularly performs concerts and recitals nationwide. The many notable players she has also performed with include Ed Shaughnessy, Mike Metheny, and Gary Foster, as well as performing under the baton of Robert Spano and James Conlon.
Tickets are priced at $40 (regular), $34 (discount for senior citizens and groups of 15 or more), and $18 (I-Card holder, students, and children).
