Dr. Miller will present some of the recent research on intimate partner and sexual violence prevention and interventions and describe the rationale for trauma-informed, healing-centered engagement as a core guiding principle in supporting survivors of interpersonal violence in health center and social service settings.
Objectives:
- Describe the dynamics of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and adolescent relationship abuse and impact on health.
- Demonstrate the role of health professionals and service providers in addressing intimate partner and sexual violence among the people they serve and to introduce healing-centered engagement.
- Identify opportunities for partner and sexual violence prevention and intervention in clinical and community-based settings.
Target Audience: Clinical personnel, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, educators, criminal justice professionals, health care professionals.
