Students and faculty in the IUP Department of Music Tuba and Euphonium Studio will be celebrating OcTUBAfest in the upcoming week. OcTUBAfest is celebrated on university campuses around the country and features recitals that highlight solo and ensemble music for the euphonium and tuba.
Zach Collins, professor of tuba and euphonium, will perform a solo recital on Sunday, OcTUBA 24, at 8:00 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall. The recital will feature compositions by J.S. Bach, William Kraft, Jim Self (IUP 1965), and John Williams and will be livestreamed on the department’s YouTube channel.
The studio will celebrate with two concerts on Thursday, OcTUBA 28, in Cogswell 121, DiCicco Hall. At 6:00 p.m. students from the Tuba and Euphonium Studio will perform solo compositions. At 8:00 p.m. the IUP Tubaphonium Ensemble will perform a concert of music for tuba quartets and large tuba-euphonium ensemble. The 8:00 p.m. Tubaphonium Ensemble concert will be livestreamed.
All OcTUBAfest events are free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to be masked in accordance with IUP policies.
