IUP piano professor Henry Wong Doe presented a session during the Pedagogy Saturdays portion of the Music Teachers National Association annual conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 15, 2025.
Wong Doe’s talk, “Kiwis and the Keyboard: the Musical Diversity of Aotearoa,” was part of the Representation and Advocacy track of Pedagogy Saturdays. His talk highlighted the works of five New Zealand composers and their musical styles and influences. Included were works from his Landscape Preludes and Perspectives albums.
Founded in 1876, the Music Teachers National Association has over 17,000 members in 50 states and more than 500 affiliated local and state organizations. MTNA’s purpose is to advance the benefit of studying music and music making to society, and to support the professionalism of music teachers.
Wong Doe is currently the president of the Indiana, PA, chapter of MTNA “Indiana Musicale.”
