Current Students

Each semester, the department seeks to hire 10–12 students to work as laboratory preppers, stockroom assistants, department tutors, student researchers, and a student instrument technician. All positions require applicants to pass the Chemical Safety Exam before consideration.  All positions require a "B" or better in General Chemistry I and II (CHEM 111 and 112) with the exception of tutors for CHEM 101, 102 and 103, requiring an "B" or better in their respective coursework. Pay rates vary by position and experience with most positions offering $14.00 per hour.

Interested students must qualify for federal work-study. If you are unsure if you qualify for federal work-study, information and instructions are available. Once eligibility has been confirmed, students can apply for these positions using Hire-A-Hawk by searching "chemistry." Be sure to email Professor Justin Fair (jfair@iup.edu) once the application has been submitted. Applicants will be selected each August for the fall semester and at the end of each November for the spring semester.

Students and recent grads interested in external opportunities should visit our Research and Job Opportunities page.
