Colleagues,
I am eager to begin my work here at IUP and am humbled and truly honored by the trust you have placed in me as your new president.
While this is my first “official” day here, I am already feeling at home. My wife, Becky, and I sincerely appreciate the many congratulatory and welcoming messages we have received since January.
Dr. Werner has provided me with a great deal of information and sage advice during the past six months to help prepare me for this important role. As you well know, he has been an exceptional leader and has left this university in a very good place.
My guiding principles for my first weeks and months as president are to be visible, to listen, and to learn from you. This great university deserves nothing less than the best thinking and effort from all of us.
I hope that you can join me, along with Becky and our son, Greg, at my first Picnic in the Grove on Wednesday, July 11.
Becky and I also look forward to the opportunity to meet you and members of the community at a reception on Monday, July 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. This reception is co-hosted by the Council of Trustees and the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce.
Please enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer and the Independence Day holiday.
President Mike Driscoll
