Provost search candidate DonnaJean Fredeen, of Southern Connecticut State University, will visit campus on October 22–23 to talk with constituents and learn more about IUP.
Fredeen has been dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Southern Connecticut since 2001 and was interim dean for three years before this time. She oversees 600 full- and part-time faculty.
Fredeen led the university's implementation of a new Liberal Education Program, including a freshman seminar. In addition, she helped to create the Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science, Center for Coastal and Marine Studies, and Center for Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Education. During her tenure, her college created new M.F.A., M.S., and B.A. degrees.
Fredeen earned her Ph.D. in analytic/inorganic chemistry from Texas A&M University in 1986 and her B.A. in chemistry from McMurry College in 1981.
