Project Title: Intelligence Community E-Learning
Bob Friday came to IUP in 1999 after successful careers as an academic advisor at the University of Pittsburgh , an assistant professor of Corporate and Inter-Cultural Communication at Duquesne University and as a start up and turn around consultant for business and industry. Of his ten publications, his book: Create Your College Success , Wadsworth , 1988 was used at over 300 colleges and universities in Freshman Success Seminars and his article: "Contrasts in Discussion Behaviors of German and American Managers" has been reprinted on every continent.
Bob joined the School of Continuing Education 1999 as the Director of Business and Industry Development. Within a year he was loaned to the State System to help start up the Office of Corporate Alliances where he worked closely with university presidents and corporate managers to establish internships, grants and consulting and training opportunities for faculty. There he also developed a partnering agreement with Science Applications International Corporation for IUP which he grew into the Intelligence Community E-learning Project.
Under Special Projects in the College of Education and Communications, the ICEP project received a four year contract with the National Security Agency to teach its faculty at the National Cryptologic School the art of advanced instructional design and produce learning and assessment tools for world wide use.
Since its inception 3 years ago, the ICEP project has involved faculty and staff from the Instructional Design Center, Adult and Community Education, Food and Nutrition, Computer Sciences, Safety Sciences, Political Science. Plans have also been set in motion to work with personnel from Technology Support and Training.
