Bryan Seal is an associate professor in the Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Department and started in fall 2018. He has an MS in environmental health and a BS in environmental resource management from Penn State University. He completed his PhD in administration and leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where his dissertation title was “Forces Influencing Small-Medium Sized Employer Decisions on Worker Protection.”
Before coming to IUP in 2018, Seal worked outside academia for the past nearly 30 years as an applied industrial hygienist and safety professional. His breadth of experience spans many industry sectors, including the US Navy, OSHA, Pennsylvania Onsite Consultation Program, and as a private consultant. His areas of expertise are in industrial hygiene, qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment strategies, and the hierarchy of control.
Seal's professional activities include leadership positions with the American Industrial Hygiene Association-Central PA Chapter, Central PA Safety Association, and National American Industrial Hygiene Association-Chair of Exposure Control Banding Committee.
