Sunflower Yoga instructors Jill Fiore and Jan Baker will lead participants through a series of beginner-level yoga postures designed to draw on both strength and flexibility, showing how a regular yoga practice can help to develop and integrate these inner recourses.

    This discussion looks at how the changing workplace is impacting women in their abilities to establish a work-life balance. It looks at some U.S. workplace policies for families and compares them to other countries. Based on these findings, this discussion presents some assistance in helping women find a balance between life and career.

    Why are we so afraid to speak to a crowd or a group, yet we're being called on more and more to present information to large groups of people? In the survey “Making the Grade? What American Workers Think Should Be Done to Improve Education,” 87 percent of the 1,014 U.S. adult workers surveyed rated communication skills as very important for performing their jobs. (Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, 2000).

    In this session, entitled “Speak Up,” participants will learn tips on how to improve their public speaking and presentation skills. They will be encouraged and motivated and find that they are speakers and can be effective in their work environment.

  • What is Grief? - Rev. Horace “Butch” Derr (1:45-2:45 p.m. and 3:00-4:00 p.m.)
    In this workshop, we will look at the various reasons that we grieve—not just over death. Rev. Derr will discuss the uniqueness of grief as it relates to us as individuals, and the three specific ways that it affects us: emotionally, physically, and spiritually. He will offer steps that can help you to heal, as well as advice on how to get through the holidays and those special days after the loss of a loved one.
