Mimi Benjamin, associate professor in the Student Affairs in Higher Education Department, published a study on learning community peer mentors in Learning Communities Research and Practice. The article highlights findings from a study about how peer mentors prepared and provided transition assistance to new undergraduate students in a science-based learning community, with a focus on how they address concerning behaviors.
Recommendations for utilizing peer mentors, as well as hiring and training suggestions were provided. The article is available online.
Learning Communities Research and Practice is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for higher education faculty, staff, researchers, administrators, and students to share current research, effective practices, critical reflections, and resources related to student learning communities in higher education.
