John Wesley Lowery, professor in the Student Affairs in Higher Education Department, published an article on the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Harvard University and University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill affirmative action cases in the fall 2023 issue of Developments, ACPA’s online magazine.
In his article, “The Supreme Court Prohibits Race-Conscious Admissions,” Lowery examined the legal history of affirmative action in higher education, the Supreme Court’s ruling in the current case, and the implications of the Court’s decision moving forward for colleges and universities.
Lowery has taught in the SAHE program since 2008. He created and teaches the program's Legal Issues in Student Affairs course. He has been recognized by multiple student affairs professional organizations for his scholarly contributions in this area.
