Mimi Benjamin, professor of Student Affairs in Higher Education, served as a keynote speaker for the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International/Residential College Society’s joint conference in Portland, Oregon, on October 8, 2024.
Benjamin, along with Karen Kurotsuchi Inkelas (University of Virginia) and Jody Jessup-Anger (Marquette University), offered the opening plenary session, titled “Creating, Maintaining, and Sustaining Living-Learning Communities and Residential Colleges.” The presentation highlighted their revised Living-Learning Community Best Practices Model, published in their 2024 book Living-Learning Communities in Practice: A Guide for Creating, Maintaining, and Sustaining Effective Programs in Higher Education. The authors also held a book signing before their presentation.
ACUHO-I serves campus housing professionals from across the globe and offers a variety of professional development opportunities for members. The Residential College Society annually offers the Residential College Symposium for faculty and student affairs educators to build community and share knowledge and scholarship about the residential college experience.
