What Is Student Giving?

Student giving refers to the acts of students giving back to their community, peers, and university.

Student Giving Committee

The Student Giving Committee is a group of students under the advisement of the Annual Giving coordinator with the goal of promoting a culture of philanthropy at IUP. Students in this organization are committed to educating their peers about the impact of student giving at IUP and encouraging them to join in the effort to support students in need and help IUP provide a high-quality education at an affordable cost.

Impact of Student Giving

When students give at IUP, they’re directly supporting their peers by funding scholarships, campus programs, and resources that make a difference in everyday student life. Even small donations add up to create big opportunities, ensuring that classmates have access to the tools and support they need to succeed. By giving back, IUP students are building a stronger, more supportive community where everyone can thrive together.

One of the most notable student giving projects is the IUP Food Pantry, which is still running today thanks to the donations of students and a few generous alumni.

IUP Ambassadors

During IUP’s 2024 Month of Giving, the IUP Ambassadors made a generous donation of $800 to the IUP Food Pantry from their 2024 Homecoming float contest winnings!

In fall 2023, they won first-prize in the Homecoming float contest and began the tradition of donating their winnings to the IUP Food Pantry and Help Center.

The IUP Ambassadors works to represent the best of IUP by building relationships with prospective students, current students, alumni, and friends of IUP. One of their many goals is to make students aware of their roles and the importance of practicing philanthropy at IUP.
