Mr. Shipley graduated from IUP in 1975 with a BS in Business Management. He began his career with Price Waterhouse & Co. in 1974 through the accounting internship program offered by the IUP Accounting Department. Mr. Shipley was admitted to the partnership in 1988 and then the partnership of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP upon the merger in 1998 of Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. He has served the firm in many capacities and geographic locations. Currently, he is a practice-leading partner in the Enterprise Applications and Controls Services practice. Mr. Shipley is also a graduate of Leadership Cincinnati and the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Development Program.
Mr. Shipley is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and industry symposiums. Mr. Shipley is very active in serving his community through leadership involvement with a number of organizations, including trustee of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, immediate past chairman and current board member of the United Methodist Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, trustee of the scholarship fund of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, treasurer of the Hampton Township Municipal Authority, treasurer of the Hampton Township Sanitary Authority, executive committee member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified public Accountants, and a former "Loaned Executive" to the United Way.
Mr. Shipley currently serves as cochair of IUP's Gateways to Opportunity Campaign. He is a past president and current ex-officio member of the IUP Alumni Association board of directors, a member of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology advisory council, a member of the IUP Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi National Honorary Fraternity, a 1990 IUP Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, a 2001 recipient of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology Department of Accounting Alumni Award, and a 2002 recipient of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology Award for Lifetime Achievement in Business.
