Congratulations on your acceptance to IUP!
When you earn a graduate-level degree, you broaden your perspective. Your credentials set you apart from others. You position yourself for challenges, and you can do more to improve yourself and the world around you. You’re in and ready to go for more, here’s what you need to know to get started.
Activate your IUP network account.* You will need your University ID, birthdate, and personal email address to activate your account. Your network account will allow you access to the IUP server.
Set up your IUP email and MyIUP accounts.* Use our Student Technology Guide for assistance navigating the technology available to you. Once your email has been activated, you’ll want to check it regularly for important university communications.
Introduce yourself to your coordinator if you haven’t already. Talk about advising, registering for classes, potential assistantships, and other next steps. Your program coordinator will be a resource for information on your specific degree program. Other university or admissions questions are can directed to graduate-admissions@iup.edu.
Verify that you have submitted all required documents. Contact graduate admissions with questions regarding any outstanding documents. If the documents have not been received by the start of your application term, a hold will be placed on future terms.
Check with your advisor on what classes you need to take.
Find your registration dates in MyIUP.
Register as early as possible within the period of time noted.Find registration written instructions and step-by-step video instructions on the Registrar’s website.
File your FAFSA (if you haven’t already).As a graduate student, you may be eligible to receive federal assistance if you meet certain requirements. Learn about the different types of federal aid and how to file your FAFSA on the Financial Aid Office’s website.
Check with Financial Aid to make sure your FAFSA is OK.
Apply for additional scholarships, loans, and graduate assistantship positions as needed.
Download the IUP Mobile App. Access all the IUP resources you need quickly and easily from your phone, including an interactive campus map.
Check out housing options and transportation around town. If you plan to commute to campus, apply for a parking permit.
Find and purchase the books you need for class. Course required books can be ordered online at the Co-op Store.
Get your I-Card.* Your I-Card can get you access to resources on campus and be loaded with a meal plan or Crimson Cash for vending purchases.
*Current IUP students have already completed these steps and will not need to repeat them.
