On Thursday, October 15, the Institute for Information Assurance will provide viewing of the CAE Tech Talk “The Age of Drones and Cybersecurity.”
October is designated by President Obama to be National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). In a world where the Internet is woven into our daily lives, it is important to take steps to ensure our privacy and safety when online. During this month, universities, private sector, and government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, are promoting cyber security awareness through various events and initiatives.
A 2014 Ponemon Institute study ranks Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Computer Science Department among the top 25 percent of 183 American schools for cybersecurity education.
Five IUP students attended the “Become What They See and Connect to in Cyber Security” workshop held in Las Vegas in June 2015. The workshop was cosponsored by the NSF, IUP, Norfolk State University, and CyberWatch West.
Six IUP faculty members (Pankaj Chaudhary, Waleed Farag, Jennifer Gossett, Dennis Giever, James Roger, and David Smith) presented security-related talks to high school students from surrounding school districts at the IUP Northpointe campus.
