During the fiscal year of 2013, PASSHE facilities realized a contract cost savings of $1,849,667.00 for electrical accounts and $600,747.00 for natural gas accounts through participation in the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) programs.
PSFEI engineers have developed and operate a web-based electronic bidding platform that allows pre-qualified energy commodity suppliers to submit a variety of price and term bids on multiple utility accounts via computerized devices.
PSFEI personnel compile billing histories, assist suppliers in registering accounts, analyze market and tariff information, and promptly address supplier problems and utility issues. The automated system assists users to easily compare, select, verify, approve, and award energy contracts electronically. The program also allows suppliers to submit bids and receive contractual awards in a prompt, efficient, and convenient manner.
