The College of Health and Human Services’ Service Committee and the Office of Alumni and Friends are co-hosting a virtual walk/run 5k starting Saturday, November 21, through Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Participants can choose to run or walk the 5k at any location of their choice. All registration proceeds benefit the IUP Food Pantry.
The Center for Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ) recently published a COVID-19 special edition of their Journal for Culinary Education Best Practices, which highlights the many challenges that culinary educators are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The College of Health and Human Services announce that two of our faculty, Chef Thomas Barnes and Chef Melinda McIsaac, were selected for publication in this Special Edition, Volume 3, Issue 1.
The faculty and staff of the College of Health and Human Services looks forward to seeing students in a few weeks, either personally or virtually. Our goals during this unique time are to minimize the health risk, while continuing to provide high-quality programs that focus on student success and support.
Adam Katchmarchi, executive director of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance and assistant professor of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, provided expertise for the article “Children May Be At Higher Risk of Drowning This Summer.”
Bitna Kim, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, received the 2019–20 Outstanding Teaching Award at the College of Health and Human Services’ 30th annual awards recognition ceremony, held virtually on May 7, 2020.
Jan Wachter received the 2019–20 Outstanding Researcher award at the College of Health and Human Services’ annual awards recognition, held virtually on May 7, 2020, and was recently selected to receive the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research, sponsored virtually by the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
Leslie Stenger, assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science, was recognized during a virtual Zoom ceremony in the College of Health and Human Services as the recipient of the 2019–20 Outstanding Service Award.
John Lewis was recognized at the College of Health and Human Services’ 30th annual awards, held virtually on May 7, 2020, with the 2019–20 Outstanding Academic Advisement Award.
