Instructions for Applying to the ALI Full-Time Program
All applicants to the ALI full-time program must submit the online application.
(Please note that admission to the ALI full-time program is not admission to IUP. If you are interested in provisional undergraduate admission to IUP, see instructions on the International Admissions page.)
- Pay the $100 application fee (includes one deferral only)
- Scan and email the following documents to ALI-Programs@iup.edu:
- ALI Financial Affidavit
- Scholarship or sponsor letter (if necessary)
- Student's valid passport
- Student's high school transcript (translated into English) and university transcripts if applicable
- Decide how you want to receive your admissions package
- We strongly recommend that you choose express mailing for your admissions package. This is the fastest and most secure way to receive your documents. Instructions for using the University Express Mailing Service are listed below under Express Mailing of Admissions Package.
- If you do not select express mailing, your materials will be sent by airmail. Airmail can take six to 12 weeks to arrive, and no tracking is available for airmail.
- If you are on campus, you can pick up your admissions package from the ALI. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to do this.

Application Deadlines
Applications are accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis. We recommend that you apply at least 60 days before you plan to begin study. Visit the Calendar and Schedule to learn more about the semester and session schedules.
Express Mailing of Admissions Package
The fastest and most secure way to receive your admissions package is by choosing the University Express Mailing Service (delivered within two to three days for many countries). You can pay to have your admissions package sent through express mailing by clicking on the link below for student shipping. You must use the website provided belowdo not go through the DHL or FedEx websites directly.
Student Shipping: No student ID is required to complete this form for IUPenter all zeroes (000...) for the student ID.
First, create a user name and password to set up your account. Select "Indiana University of Pennsylvania-Main Campus, American Language Institute" as the university and office for which you wish to create a shipment. You will also need your mailing address, email address, phone number, and credit card information to complete this online request.
If you have questions or experience problems when using this online service, please use the "help" feature on its webpage. Once your documents are mailed, you will receive an email with the tracking number and order details for your shipment.
In addition to the standard shipping charges, a Restricted Access Country service charge of $100 per shipment will apply for shipments to countries where US economic embargoes are in effect, which currently include Burma (Myanmar), Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Iran, Sudan, and Syria.
