Hay Fever is a cross between high farce and a comedy of manners. The play is set in an English country house in the 1920s where four eccentric members of the Bliss family exhibit outlandish behavior in the company of the four guests they have invited to spend the weekend.
The self-centered behavior of the hosts eventually drives the guests to flee unnoticed as the Bliss family continues its odd arguments and self-involved parlor games. This ever-popular play is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the changing social dynamics of modern living.
