This workshop will address the implications of Adolescent Attachment Style and Substance Abuse and integrating family therapy techniques into Adolescent Substance Abuse treatment. The anxious attachment pattern is related to the frequency of substance abuse and to stress motivated patterns of substance abuse. Insecurely attached adolescents develop dysfunctional attitudes about themselves that contribute to substance abuse. Applying attachment language in the course of substance abuse treatment enhances the treatment.
