2020-21 Scholarships
Alexa J. Boyer Emerick Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Outstanding and deserving junior and/or senior student in the Nursing program
- Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in the Nursing program
- Demonstrated participation in school and/or community activities
Selection will be made in the fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval.
Eleanor Bosnick Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Preference will be given to a graduate of Port Allegany High School with a declared major in nursing. If there are no Port Allegany High School graduates they must be a graduate of a high school in the following counties: McKean, Potter, Cameron, or Elk with a declared major in nursing. If no nursing majors then must be a major in the Allied Health Professions.
- Must have earned a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and demonstrate the promise for continued academic success.
- Must demonstrate financial need in obtaining higher education.
- Must demonstrate good character, good citizenship and have good moral standing.
- Must demonstrate involvement in extra-curricular activities and/or volunteer service in community activities.
This scholarship will be awarded during the spring semester of the recipient's sophomore or junior year to be used during their junior or senior year and shall be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.
Ella Seanor Leadership Award
Eligibility requirements:
- A graduating senior in the Department of Nursing with high standards of professional nursing
- Demonstrated leadership and service within the graduating class
Selection will be made in the fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval.
Gorman Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Enrollment as a full-time student in either Nursing or Allied Health
- Good academic standing in Nursing or Allied Health program
- Demonstrated self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility
- Preference for this scholarship will go to those with financial need
Selection will be made in the fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval.
Indiana Lions Club Humanitarian Award
Eligibility requirements:
- Senior standing
- Community service
- Demonstration of clinical caring attributes: skill, compassion, understanding, humanitarianism, accountability, and professionalism
Selection will be made in the spring semester.
Kay Staszkiewicz Memorial Scholarship
Selection will be made in the fall semester by the Enrollment Enhancement Committee, and is subject to faculty approval.
Kuzneski Family Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Incoming freshman student, with preference to a graduate from Indiana County High School
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Declared major in nursing, art, or participation in intercollegiate football
Selection will be made in the spring semester.
Marian A. Murray Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Graduate student
- Be involved in activities beyond practice
- Have active membership in professional organizations
- Demonstrate involvement in research, presentations, and/or service
- Have a good QPA
- A written essay describing your goals as well as career and professional involvement
Selection will be made in the spring semester.
Michelle A. Campbell Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- 2.75 GPA or higher
- Graduate of Elk County Catholic, Johnsonburg Area, Ridgeway Area, or St. Mary's Area High School in Pennsylvania
- Enrolled as a second year or higher nursing student
The Scholarship Selection Committee, appointed by the Board of trustees of the Elk County Community Foundation, will select the scholarship recipient. For more information, visit Elk County Community Foundation.
PHN Charitable Foundation Nursing Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Enrollment in LPN-BSN or RN-BSN program
- GPA of 3.0 if an incoming freshman, or good academic standing if upperclassman
- Demonstrated financial need
- Essay
- Preference will be given to students from Indiana, Butler, Beaver, Lawrence, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, or Mercer counties
- Second preference will be given to students from any county within Western Pennsylvania
Pocket Nurse Scholarship
These scholarships are provided from Pocket Nurse, a nurse-owned and -operated company. The company has established a Scholarship Trust Fund whose monies are dedicated to assisting qualified applicants to pursue their education. Susan Spurlin Peckman Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Currently an incoming freshman
- QPA of at least 3.0
- Brief essay describing character and career goals
- Preference will be given to students from Indiana, Marion Center or Woodland Hills
- Select upperclassmen may be chosen from the above schools
- If there are still no students, two scholarships may be given next year
Recipientwill be decided in the spring semester.
