FSA Open Enrollment

Monday, October 14–Friday, November 1 is the Open Enrollment period for a 2025 election. A flexible spending account is a special account that lets you set aside money for eligible expenses. The money you put into your account is deducted from your paychecks on a pre-tax basis. That means you'll enjoy tax savings. You can use the account throughout 2025 to get reimbursed for eligible health care and daycare expenses. If you would like a 2025 FSA, you are required to enroll annually during this open enrollment period.

Understanding Your FSA Plan Options

It’s important to understand the difference between FSA plan options. View more details below:

Health Care FSA

Provide tax savings for you, your spouse, and your federal tax dependents on your out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision, or prescription expenses not paid by insurance, like:

  • Copays or Prescriptions
  • Dental Care or Braces
  • Eyeglasses or Contact Lenses
  • Laser Vision Correction
  • Eligible Over-the-Counter Items
  • Maximum Election $3,200

Day Care FSA

A welcome money saver for today’s working parents. It allows you to set aside pre-tax money for eligible daycare expenses so you can work, including:

  • Day Care
  • Summer Camp
  • Before/After School Programs
  • Elder Care
  • Maximum Election $5,000

How To Enroll

FSA elections should be made through the self-service workplace, FIORI. You should elect coverage in annual amounts which is divided by your pay frequency. View the FSA enrollment directions for instructions to enroll.

Wellness Opportunities

IUP Health and Wellness Fair

When: Tuesday September 10, 2024

Time: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Location: HUB Ohio Room

Open to the IUP campus community (including students).  The event will include approximately 35 vendors offering health and nutrition education, free chair massages, spinal screenings, and the ability to purchase items such as essential oils and vitamins. The fair is free to all IUP employees and students!

Opportunities for Receiving Flu Shots

Flu shots will be administered by Giant Eagle pharmacy on the IUP campus on September 10, 2024, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. in the HUB's OHIO room.

Faculty, managers, coaches, OPEIU, SPFPA, POA employees, and their covered dependents enrolled in Highmark PPO can receive a free flu vaccine from either pharmacy by presenting their health insurance ID card. For UPMC HMO members, free flu shots are available at the clinic from any Giant Eagle, Giant Food Stores, Rite Aid, and Martins's Food Markets pharmacies by submitting your health insurance ID card.

AFSCME, SCUPA, and SEIU employees and their covered dependents enrolled in a PEBTF health plan, both PPOs and all HMOs, can receive a free flu vaccine by presenting their CVS/Caremark prescription drug card or their health insurance ID card.

To minimize your wait time, you are encouraged to attend the clinic according to the following schedule:

First Letter of Last Name Recommended Time to Attend Flu Shot Clinic
A-G 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
H-M 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
N-R 12:30 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
S-Z 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

This is not a mandatory schedule, so if you have a need to go during a different time from where your name falls on the schedule provided, please feel free to do so. This schedule is to try to keep the clinic organized.

If you are planning on attending the clinic here on campus, the pharmacy requires the screening questionnaire/consent form. The forms were sent in the email to employees, but the forms will also be there the day of the clinic.

Other Opportunities for Receiving Flu Shots

All Highmark members can obtain a no-cost flu shot at any Rite Aid, CVS, Giant, Giant Eagle pharmacy, or at many other pharmacy locations. You must present your Highmark member ID card. Members should confirm that their pharmacy participates with Highmark for flu shots. No appointment is needed—the member must present their Highmark member ID card or, if a PEBTF member, their CVS/Caremark Rx ID Card. UPMC HMO members can also obtain a flu shot at any other pharmacy or clinic but then may submit a claim form with a receipt to UPMC to get reimbursed.

Highmark members of all ages can obtain a free flu shot from their physician; however, an office visit copayment may apply.

More information on the 2024–25 influenza vaccine is available on the Centers for Disease Control website.
