Description: This study employed a background questionnaire developed to assess the social history of men appearing in court for domestic violence, and used focus groups with batterer counselors and battered women's advocates to develop and test criteria for discharging men from batterer programs.

Goal: to identify the characteristics of men arrested for domestic violence and develop criteria for discharging batterers from court-mandated counseling.
