Impact 150: IUP Alumnus Gifts $25,000 to Support Eberly College of Business Students, Initiatives

Patrick R. Wallace, a 1985 management graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has continued his generosity to students at IUP and to the Eberly College of Business with a $25,000 gift to support the Eberly College of Business Dean’s Innovation Fund.

U-SOAR Students to Present Original Research During Aug. 19 Research Symposium

The 52 students selected for the 2026 Undergraduate Summer Opportunities for Applying Research (U-SOAR) will present their original research projects during the U-SOAR Research Symposium on August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Sutton Hall’s Blue Room.

IUP E-Scooter and Electronic Device Policy for IUP Buildings, Outdoor Spaces Goes Into Effect Aug. 1

Following concerns raised about the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and users of electronic mobile devices, Indiana University of Pennsylvania has adopted a new policy that prohibits electronic personal mobility devices on IUP property, both in all IUP-owned and managed buildings and outdoor spaces on the Indiana and Punxsutawney campuses.

Panera Bread Coming to Campus in Spring 2027

Indiana University of Pennsylvania announces that Panera Bread is coming to campus in spring 2027. Panera will open in the Crimson Café Food Court as part of an expanded dining program and enhanced meal plan options

Building Bridges with ‘Noon-Ball’

Lunchtime pickup basketball has connected IUP people for almost 60 years. Bill Hamilton ’92 and Alex Heckert serve as de facto co-commissioners of a pickup league whose players—faculty and staff members, varsity coaches, undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, community members, even foreign nationals—meet at noon three times a week in IUP’s Zink Hall.

Extreme Heat Warning in Effect 11:00 a.m. June 30–10:00 p.m. July 3

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning as dangerously hot and humid conditions move into our area. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach the 90s, with heat index values exceeding 100°F, creating an increased risk of heat-related illnesses for anyone spending time outdoors. Dangerous heat is expected to persist through Friday evening.

Isabella Wolszczenski, an Indiana University of Pennsylvania safety, health, and environmental applied sciences major in the Cook Honors College from Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, was selected as the 2026 recipient of Dr. John J. and Char Kopchick Unique Undergraduate Student Fellowship.

IUP College of Osteopathic Medicine Earns Pre-Accreditation Status from Accrediting Agency, Approved to Begin Recruiting Students

IUP’s College of Osteopathic Medicine has earned “pre-accreditation status” from the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. Pre-accreditation status means that IUP can begin recruiting and admitting students to its College of Osteopathic Medicine and begin medical instruction within the approved osteopathic medical curriculum.

IUP Council of Trustees Endorse Tuition and Fees for Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine

On May 7, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Council of Trustees endorsed IUP President Michael Driscoll’s recommendation for tuition and fees for students enrolling in IUP’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree program in IUP’s proposed college of osteopathic medicine.

Impact 150: $4 Million Gifted by Pittsburgh Area Foundation to IUP Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine

A Pittsburgh area foundation has gifted $4 million to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for IUP’s proposed college of osteopathic medicine—bringing IUP’s Impact 150 comprehensive fundraising campaign to more than $114.5 million, or 76.34 percent of its $150 million goal.
